Algorithm for Pulmonary Embolism

1. Chest radiograph
2. V/Q scintigraphy
3. Pulmonary angiogram in patients with an intermediate probability of pulmonary embolism on V/Q scan, patients who require a definitive diagnosis prior to interventional treatment, or patients in whom there is a high clinical suspicion of pulmonary embolism despite a low probability V/Q scan.
