Chest radiograph shows a paraspinal mass with destruction and collapse of the eleventh thoracic vertebra.
Anteroposterior radiograph of the thoracolumbar spine shows a lytic, destructive lesion of T11 with vertebral collapse. Widening of the paraspinal lines (arrows) indicates extension of a soft tissue mass from the marrow.
Computed tomography at T11 shows the lytic, destructive lesion of the body with soft tissue extension anteriorly and more to the left than to the right (arrows).
In the sagittal T2 weighted MRI of T11, the pathologic fracture and paraspinal hematoma appear bright (arrows). Note the encroachment of the spinal cord (arrows) and the bright spinal fluid. Areas of high signal in vertebrae other than T11 suggest diffuse marrow abnormality.
The sagittal T1 weighted MRI shows the pathological fracture of T11, the paraspinal hematoma, and the spinal fluid as low signals.
The axial T1 weighted MRI shows destruction of the body of T11 with soft tissue mass extending anteriorly and more to the left than to the right. Note the effacement of the cortical margin of the vertebra (arrows). (Compare with CT.)
